Jacksonville City Council is scheduled to consider a proposal allowing JTA to use up to $30 million in unspent local gas-tax allocations to retire outstanding debt. Ordinance 2026-0780 is listed for the October 13 agenda in the city’s legislative record.

The money would come from JTA’s existing allocations of the five-cent and ninth-cent local option gas taxes. The proposal would amend the city’s agreement with the transit authority to authorize that use of the funds.

The measure was introduced September 22. The legislative history records Finance Committee approval of an amended measure on October 6; the council record still lists the ordinance at the public-hearing stage.
